AMD unveiled its new-generation Wraith Prism CPU cooler, which will soon be available for purchase separately, launched alongside some of the higher models of its Ryzen 2000-series "Pinnacle Ridge" processors. The Wraith Prism is essentially a Wraith Max with RGB LED lighting. The cooler features two RGB LED diffusers embedded into its shroud, an outer ring at the mouth of the intake, and an inner ring along the bore of the intake framing the fan. You will be able to control the RGB LED lighting via Ryzen Master software, but it will also support software standards from motherboard vendors, such as ASUS Aura Sync, MSI Mystic Light, GIGABYTE RGB Fusion, BIOSTAR Vivid, etc. Under the shroud, the Wriath Prism features the same aluminium fin-stack heatsink as the Wriath Max. The cooler features fan-profiles for various CPU OC modes, which can be enabled via Ryzen Master. When it starts selling separately, the Wraith Prism could be priced around $49, a $5-ish premium over Wraith Max.

Overclocked quantum bit

That looks really nice.

I like the clamp mechanism, it's easy to work with. My H110i has it, but apparently the retail version of the Wraith Max has some serious problems where the latches aren't quite fitting motherboards correctly. At least that's what Amazon reviews say. I hope this is fixed with the Prism.

That is hilarious it says RGB heathens.

Need acrylic shroud version for maximum RGB.

Amazon reviews aren't reliable. I haven't seen anything on forums or the AMD subreddit about this issue.

It's kind of ironic because when we first saw the wraith cooler, it looked like it already had RGB but no it didn't. Full circle...?

The current Wraith Max has an RGB LED ring and by default breathes through colors.

RGB subject done right. Great mar...keting.....by..A...MD.
wow, that was weird to write.

Price is still meh, and this is defo for AMD purists. there are many 50$ coolers that stomp this.

$49 for a "stock" cooler but RBG? great amd, seems your are getting late to party with nothing special, as usual,

AMD used all their GPU cores and cards for machine learning, and they learned the sh*tty old coolers that were noisy and boring were noisy and boring. After years of machine learning, teaching the machine to have complex thoughts and maybe even emotions they finally delivered on a decent cooler. It was a long drawn out process, one that involved millions of dollars of research, time, dedicated teams and finding ways to enhance the machine, communicate with it through interpretive rainbow dance, VR immersion, sacrifice of consumer relations.......

Meanwhile every other company just asked their customers........

Errmmm... 39dB...???
Really!

Call me when they put out a 120/140mm cooler /fan
with sub 19dB ... and in case you bother to look
they ARE cheaper than this unit...

FAQs

Is the AMD Wraith CPU cooler good? ›

It's small, affordable, and it works very well. I installed this cooler on a 3rd gen Ryzen 5 processor. I ran an OCCT cpu stress test and temps never went over 75°C even after full heat saturation in a case that has poor ventilation.

Is AMD Wraith Prism enough for 5800x? ›

The processor you want is rated at TDP 105 Watts which means you will need a CPU Cooler that will dissipate 105 watts of heat from the processor to keep it from overheating. The AMD Wraith Prism is rated at 105 Watt TDP.

Is the Ryzen Prism cooler good? ›

Great CPU cooler. Previously had the cheap ThermalTake cooler, and the difference is about 12C at idle. Even running games like Cyberpunk, and my Ryzen 3600 would get into the 80s. With this one, it peaked at 73C, even when running a stress test.

Is Wraith prism good enough for 7700? ›

Given its performance, the Wraith Prism cooler should be sufficient for most of you who buy the Ryzen 7 7700.

Does AMD Wraith cooler need thermal paste? ›

Yes, the included Wraith Stealth cooler has pre-applied thermal paste.

Is the Ryzen 7 5800X overkill for gaming? ›

On the other hand, the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X is overkill for gaming. If you're someone hoping for increased performance from its extra two cores, you'll be disappointed.

Can a Wraith Prism cool a 5900X? ›

The 3900X has the same TPD wattage of 105 as the 5900X so with your room temperature at 68f, The Wraith Prism should do the same efficient cooling on the 5900X as it did on the 3900X.

Is AMD Wraith Prism good for 5600X? ›

The 5600X, however, only requires the basic air cooler (wraith cooler) that comes with it, compared to the 5800x, 5900X, and 5950X which AMD recommends using a higher-end cooler for those CPUs as they run hotter than the 5600X. If you do decide to overclock the 5600X, you may need a better cooler than the wraith one.

Is Intel or AMD cooler better? ›

AMD generally has better coolers than Intel — most of AMD's bundled coolers are suitable for at least moderate overclocking — but the company no longer includes them with any of the 'X' models. Intel also doesn't throw in a cooler for its pricey overclockable K-series SKUs.

Is The AMD CPU cooler good enough? ›

Which is better CPU cooler? ›

Air coolers are quite good at relocating heat away from the CPU, but keep in mind that heat is then dispersed into the case. This can raise the ambient temperature of the system overall. Liquid coolers do a better job of relocating that heat outside of the system via the fans on the radiator.

What is AMD Wraith cooler? ›

The Wraith Max is the most capable cooler AMD offers for Ryzen CPUs. It is an enlarged version of the original Wraith which sports a square body, a copper base, four heat pipes that make direct contact with the CPU, and a programmable RGB LED ring.

The 3900X has the same TPD wattage of 105 as the 5900X so with your room temperature at 68f, The Wraith Prism should do the same efficient cooling on the 5900X as it did on the 3900X.

Is the Wraith Spire cooler good? ›

This Cooler isn't the best of the best but, it looks real nice and does cut down on the heat. I've noticed my CPU runs a few degrees cooler when playing CoD Warzone. Honestly, it aesthetically looks nice.
